Many know of the Daleks, but not of their past. Even fewer know that at one point the Daleks were not so different from us.

The Daleks originate from the distant planet of Skaro - a world once much like our own. To truly understand the origin of the Daleks we will have to start long before their race...

A Brief History Of Skaro

A red planet ravaged by dust storms and deadly radiation - Skaro. The Dead Planet.

The homeworld of the Daleks has undergone a terrible metamorphosis throughout its recorded history. Skaro was once a world teeming with life - inhabited by multiple humanoid races even. There were the tall blonde-haired, blue-eyed Thals and the dark-haired, dark-eyed Kaleds. In the written records of the Thal people, going back half a million years, the Thals were originally a warrior people - while the Kaleds were more oriented towards philosophy and science. Being distilled from an oral tradition, however, their earlier records could be potentially inaccurate. Whoever they were in the past there was one thing for certain: the people of Skaro would never be the same after a war would ravage their planet. A conflict that lasted a thousand years...

Pre-History Not much is known of the ancient history of Skaro. There is some evidence that there were other humanoid species beyond just the Kaleds and Thals (namely the Tharons and the Dals. The latter of whom's word for god was apparently "Dalek"), however it seems as though they had both gone extinct by the start of The Thousand Year War from genocidal campaigns waged against them by the Kaleds.
Pre-Conflict History during this time period is steeped in mystery and rumours. Archaeological findings suggested that at one point the Thals and Kaleds had lived together in atleast one settlement in the distant past. No one knows who started the war, with either side claiming it was the other, naturally.
